Simplr vs Airtable

Airtable lets you build it.
Simplr is already built.

Airtable is a powerful way to design your own database, screens and automations. Simplr is for agencies that would rather run their client work than maintain the system behind it.

01 / THE DIFFERENCE

Where Simplr and Airtable differ

With Airtable, someone designs and maintains your agency’s system. With Simplr, the system is the product.

  1. 01

    No builder required

Clients, jobs, scope, versions, approvals, time and invoices are already connected in Simplr. In Airtable, someone on your team designs those tables, interfaces and automations, then keeps them working.

  2. 02

    Clients included

Airtable Portals start at $120 a month for 15 portal seats on Team. Simplr’s branded portal is included on every plan, and clients are free.

  3. 03

    Agency rules, kept

Simplr enforces the approval chain, accepted scope and time approval, so the process holds when the person who built it is busy.

02 / SWITCHING

Bring your work across from Airtable

You don’t start from a blank workspace. Upload your Airtable export in Settings › Import and your clients, jobs and tasks come across with their statuses, owners, due dates and notes.

  1. 01

    Export from Airtable

Download your projects table as CSV from the view menu. Each record becomes a job, and you confirm which fields hold the client, status, owner and deadline.

  2. 02

    Check the match

Simplr suggests how each column, status and person maps onto your workflow and team. Change anything that doesn’t look right, and invite people who aren’t in Simplr yet if you want to.

  3. 03

    Review, then import

A dry run shows every client, job and task before anything is saved, and what fits your plan. Importing the same export again later only adds what is new.

04 / THE RIGHT FIT

An honest answer

Choose Simplr if…

  • Nobody on your team wants to be the Airtable builder
  • You want clients to review and approve without paying for portal seats
  • You want approvals, scope and time approval enforced, not just tracked
  • You want invoicing connected to the work without building it

Airtable may suit you better if…

  • Your processes are unusual and need a fully custom model
  • You have an operations person who enjoys building and maintaining systems
  • You want to combine agency work with other data, such as inventory or production
  • You need reporting that goes beyond agency delivery and billing

05 / FAQ

Simplr or Airtable: common questions

Can’t we build all of this in Airtable?

Much of it, yes: Airtable is flexible enough to model clients, approvals and invoices. The cost is design time and maintenance. Simplr gives you that workflow as a product, so changes in your team don’t break your system.

How do Airtable Portals compare with Simplr’s client portal?

Airtable Portals are an add-on, from $120 a month for 15 portal seats on Team, with read-only users free. Simplr’s branded portal is on every plan, and clients can approve versions, send briefs, accept scope and download files at no cost.

Can we move our Airtable base to Simplr?

Yes. Download your projects table as CSV and upload it in Settings › Import. You confirm which fields hold the client, status, owner and deadline, and each record becomes a job, or a task if your base tracks tasks by project. A dry run shows the result before anything is saved.
